About Us - History

Dance Horizon Troupe (Singapore) was founded on 20th August 2001 and held its official opening ceremony on 18th August 2002. A local composer, Mr. Lee Hock Meng named “Dance Horizon”. Its root meaning: Dance, a performing art, is pursued fervently with passion. Wishing upon a glittering star in the sky, realizing hopes and dreams beyond our horizon.

Dance Horizon Troupe (Singapore) is a local dance troupe which advocates originality and creativity in the art of Dance. Artistic Director, Mr. Henry Ng Chay Kuang, has a rich background and experience in the area of dance and has produced countless outstanding dance works over the years

One of the troupe’s perennial aims is to cultivate the interests of our local youths in pursuing dance. The troupe also dedicates its assiduous effort in training professional dancers, grooming potential choreographers, in the hope that they will in turn make dance a full time commitment. In doing so, Dance Horizon Troupe (Singapore) contributes towards the development of the local arts scene. It is also working towards promoting and disseminating Asian dance beyond national boundaries.

Since its establishment, the troupe has been an active organization. Credit goes to the strong leadership of the troupe’s Artistic Director, Mr. Henry Ng Chay Kuang and our young and diligent working committee for labouring with him towards fulfilling the troupe’s aim and goals. The troupe has also garnered results through staging various local performances, conducting training programmes (with examinations held) and cultivating student’s interest in appreciating dance as an art form.

Mr. Henry Ng Chay Kuang established this non-profit status organization because he strongly believes in educating our young generation in the performing arts arena.
